Historic California Films To Be Digitized
Special Collections is excited to participate in the California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP).
The California Preservation Program is undertaking a project to provide digitization and access to historic California audiovisual recordings. The goal is to develop a new research resource of an online database of film, video and audio recordings documenting California history. UC Davis Special Collections nominated 16 films from our collection under the project guidelines.
The films focus on historic California including topics such as Northern California locations, UC Davis campus activities, as well as water and native plant projects. The digitized films will eventually be hosted on the Internet Archive. We also plan to add links to the digitized films to our collection descriptions on the Online Archive of California (OAC). The digitized files should be available during summer 2014. Stay tuned until then when we unveil these newly digitized films.
