Procedure 1: Internet Service Provider settings

1. Select (by clicking) the appropriate item related to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) in the "Dial-up and Virtual Private Network Settings" list. Repeat this procedure for all settings relating to your ISP.
2. Click the button labeled "Settings".
3. Check the checkbox labeled "Use automatic configuration script".
4. Enter the following URL into the field labeled "Automatic Proxy Configuration URL":
     http://www.lib.ucdavis.edu/proxy/pacserve
   

   WARNING: Avoid common mistakes.

   • When using Copy and Paste to enter the URL, be sure there is NO space in front of the http://
   • Do not omit the http:// in the URL. It is necessary.
   
5. Remove checkmarks from "Automatically detect settings" (if checked) and then click the button labeled "OK".

Procedure 2: LAN Settings procedure is also required.

1. Click the button labeled "LAN settings" (Local Area Network Settings).
2. Check the checkbox labeled "Use automatic configuration script".
3. Enter the following URL into the field labeled "Automatic Proxy Configuration URL":
     http://www.lib.ucdavis.edu/proxy/pacserve
   

   WARNING: Avoid common mistakes.

   • When using Copy and Paste to enter the URL, be sure there is NO space in front of the http://

4. Remove checkmarks from "Automatically detect settings" (if checked) and then click the button labeled "OK".
