Congressional Quarterly (CQ) Electronic Library includes many resources for the study of current and historical congressional and American government issues. The CQ Researcher is an invaluable source of background information on topical issues since 1991. The Global Researcher is similar to CQ Researcher but with an international orientation. CQ Weekly Report, available starting in 1983, reports in depth on congressional activities and political developments.

Provides detailed indexing from 1789 forwards for publications of Congress: documents, reports, hearings, unpublished hearings, transcripts, laws and regulations, plus legislative histories and information on members of Congress. Proquest Congressional has digital U.S. Congressional hearings collection from 1824-1979. Full text for congressional committee documents and reports is included from 1990 to current. This database was known as LexisNexis Congressional.

The hearings collection is included in Proquest Congressonal. The Digital Hearings Collections Part A (1824-1979) contains full-text, searchable, pdf versions of Congressional committee hearings, including both published and unpublished hearings.

Thomas, from the Library of Congress, is a legislative information database. Search bill text by word/phrase or bill number for for current congress and previous congresses from 1989 through current. Find bill summary and status from 1973 through current congress. Congressional Record 1989 to present. Roll Call Votes 1989 to present. Public Laws 1974 to present.
U.S. Congressional Serial Set [via NewsBank] (http://uclibs.org/PID/42461) [Restricted] VPN
The Readex/Newsbank U.S. Congressional Serial Set (1817-1980) has full text Congressional committee reports and documents originally published in the Serial Set from the 15th through the 96th Congresses, 1817-1980. Also includes the American State Papers (a retrospective collection of materials originating from 1789 through 1838 but published in the second quarter of the 19th century). The U.S. Congressional Serial Set is the bound, sequentially numbered set of volumes of all the Reports, Documents and Journals of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Many early agency reports were published originally in congressional editions. The Serial Set constitutes an incomparably rich collection of primary source material on all aspects of American history and government.

The Congressional Research Service, a branch of the Library of Congress, provides fact-rich, unbiased, nontechnical reports to members of Congress regarding a variety of issues. The Reports are not available in any one place, and are not freely distributed. However, several different sites collect and maintain the CRS reports. Additional sites for CRS reports listed below.

The C-SPAN Archives records, indexes, and archives all C-SPAN programming for historical, educational, research, and archival uses. Every C-SPAN program aired since 1987, now totaling over 160,000 hours, is contained in the C-SPAN Archives and immediately accessible through the database and electronic archival systems developed and maintained by the C-SPAN Archives.

The Archives records all three C-SPAN networks seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Programs are extensively indexed making the database of C-SPAN programming an unparalleled chronological resource. Programs are indexed by subject, speaker names, titles, affiliations, sponsors, committees, categories, formats, policy groups, keywords, and location. The congressional sessions and committee hearings are indexed by person with full-text. The video collection can be searched through the online Video Library.
