Become a Library Donor
The UC Davis University Library is one of the premier academic research libraries in the United States. It is comprised of five separate facilities, the first four of which are located on the Davis campus: the Peter J. Shields Library, the Physical Sciences & Engineering Library, the Loren D. Carlson Health Sciences Library, the Agricultural and Resource Economics Library, and the Blaisdell Medical Library in Sacramento.
The Library faces a constant challenge in meeting the needs of our students, faculty, and community users. Your welcome donation will help make it possible to more successfully fulfill the Library's mission to the campus. With your help, we are better able to meet the need for new acquisitions for collections, seek improvements in the delivery of information and other services, and offer programs to advance the Library in a variety of ways. Your support helps to ensure that the Library remains an essential resource to those who rely on it for their teaching, research, and patient care needs.
The University Library welcomes donations of cash, securities, personal or real property, and life insurance. Depending upon the wishes of the donor, non-cash gifts of books, journals, book collections, artwork, or other gifts-in-kind may be added to the collections of the University Library or may be sold to benefit the Library. Private support from any of these sources will help the Library to respond to the challenges of serving a growing faculty, student body and citizenry. Gifts can be for current use or endowment ($10,000 minimum for endowed funds), restricted or unrestricted.
Donors receive news of the activities of the University Library, as well as announcements of and invitations to special events and programs. Donors are also provided opportunities to continue support for the Library through the University Library Annual Fund and other fund raising projects. Another desirable benefit to our donors is the charitable tax deduction aspect of gifts. Each donor receives a charitable donation receipt in the form of a letter of acknowledgment. The letter will reference the amount of gift (if a cash gift), its date of receipt and a statement attesting to the fact that no goods or services were received in exchange for the gift. No value will be designated by the Library for non-cash gifts of real property or other gifts-in-kind.
