Installing WinSCP for Secure File Transfers
Downloading Attachments from your Email Account (mail.lib.ucdavis.edu)

Open your web browser. You can find the download page at: http://winscp.net/eng/download.php (http://winscp.net/eng/download.php)

Scroll down until you find the heading "WinSCP 3.7.4" (or the latest version released that is not beta) and choose the "installation package" link.
Note: If you see a different version number, simply choose the most recent version which should be the first listed or should be listed directly under the beta version if there is one.

Choose a mirror site to download from (North America) and click on the link in the "download" column. A dialog box will pop up. It will say "You have chosen to download a file from this location [...]. What would you like to do with this file?" Be sure to select the "Save to disk" option, then click "OK."
You may see instead the message "Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer?" Select save and proceed as directed below.

Save the file to your desktop. In the "Save As" dialog box, click once on the pull down menu, then select "Desktop." Click on "Save."

Double click on the file that is now on your desktop to install WinSCP. A dialog box will pop up that reads "Welcome to the WinSCP Setup Wizard." Click on "Next."

In the next dialog box read the license agreement, then click on "Yes."

You are now prompted to choose a destination directory. It is best to install to the default location. To do so, click on "Next."

In this next dialog box, you are prompted to define the components to be installed. Click on "Next" to continue with a full installation.

Next you will see the "Select Start Menu Folder" dialog box. Click on "Next" to place shortcuts in your Start menu.

Next you'll see the "Select Additional Tasks" dialog box. Click on "Next" to accomplish the default tasks or uncheck those you do not want.

Next you will be prompted to choose the user interface style you would like. Click on "Next" to the choose the default option (the standard two-pane window).

Click on "Install" in the next dialog box.

Then select "Finish." Installation is now complete. This will also launch WinSCP for the first time. If it does not start, then double click the "WinSCP3" icon on your desktop.

You will now see a "WinSCP Login" dialog box. Under "Host name" Please enter "mail.lib.ucdavis.edu." Also under "User name" please enter your mail.lib login.

In the left pane of this same dialog box, click on "Stored Sessions." Then on the right side of the dialog box, click on "Save." You will then be asked to name your session. Click on "OK" to proceed with the recommended name.

Click on "Login"

You will now see a "Warning" dialog box. This is usual, and will only occur upon the first usage of your account with WinSCP. It is safe to click on "Yes" to proceed.

A box will pop up and ask you for your password. Upon entering your password, select "OK"

The WinSCP application window will pop-up. The left side of the application window represents your computer and should be currently showing your "My Documents" directory. The right side of the window will show the contents of your mail.lib mail directory.
Be sure to delete the installation file "winscp375setup.exe" from your desktop.
