This group specializes in Freedom of Information requests for documents relating to US Foreign Policy. They then create briefing books on specific subjects with links to the documents they've had declassified.
United States History Education and Culture
This site from the United States Department of State included full text access to selected volumes of the Foreign Relations of the United States, among other useful material.
Making of America Project
This site includes the full texts of tens of thousands of Antebellum American publications, both books and magazines. It is fully searchable.
American Memory Project
This is the Library of Congress's rich and growing collection of digitized Americana. It includes books, manuscripts, photographs, early films, and sound recordings.
