Workstations

The Blaisdell Medical Library has four Collaboration Rooms equipped with advanced software and technologies, including large touch screens. One room is equipped with a Tandberg videoconferencing system. These rooms may be reserved in advance using the online reservation system. Requests to load special software, provided by the user, must be made at least one week in advance of the date of the reservation. Only authentic, licensed copies of software will be considered. Requests to load special software are taken by online reservation only.

The Blaisdell Medical Library also has four media center workstations loaded with advanced software and which are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Carlson Health Sciences Library has four media center workstations loaded with advanced software and which are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Additionally, both Health Sciences Libraries have workstations that allow UC Davis students, faculty and staff to use their UC Davis Kerberos login to access campus resources such as SISWeb and MyUCDavis. Specific workstations also allow UC Davis Kerberos login holders to download information to their USB storage devices and to run CD-Roms.

Printing

Print jobs are sent to a public printer and may be retrieved using a Repro Graphics copy card or UC Davis student ID card. For more information, please refer to the Copying and Printing web page.

Personal Laptops

Wireless access to the UC Davis Network (http://wireless.ucdavis.edu/) is available to campus students, faculty and staff at both Health Sciences Libraries.

To access the wireless network, your laptop computer must have a wireless network interface card (NIC). If your laptop lacks a network card, cards for Windows-based PCs may be checked out from Shields Library.

DHCP (http://netaccess.ucdavis.edu/) access is available at both libraries. Ports at Carlson Health Sciences Library are located in and around the lower level study rooms. Ports at the Blaisdell Medical Library are located in the carrels and along the study bar. If your laptop network card is registered with campus IT, you may log on with DHCP. Alternatively, internet connection kits may be borrowed from the desk. Access to the public printers is not available from DHCP port connections.
